WE CAUGHT ONE!!

I woke up and was in the middle of feeding the baby when I heard squeaking coming from the kitchen. I called Daniel into the room and told him to take care of it because I just couldn't handle it. As much as I wanted to get rid of it, it broke my heart to hear it squeaking like that!
Daniel ended up dropping it into a bucket of water in order to finally kill the poor thing. I called my sister and mom in triumph and my mom chewed me out for killing it "in such an inhumane way". She was devastated and almost in tears! What the? She wasn't even around for it!!! I sent my sister a picture of the culprit and my mom vowed never to look at it because she was just traumatized by the whole thing.........whatever!!!
So far we haven't had any problems since. No more scratching, scurrying, or squeaking...lets keep our fingers crossed!

that rat is huge!! Sad-- our mouse is so tiny... (smaller than the length of my pinky) and we still have not caught him yet.. what kind of trap is that... we have had the traps out for a few days and still nothing.
We just caught a mouse in our basement, but I think he probably got in by an open window in the basement, because we haven't gotten anymore since. But ours was just a little mouse! That rat is DISGUSTING! Yuck. Glad you got it. You're poor mom...such a tender little soul! :)
yikes! as much as I don't like mice or RATS, that was a very inhumane way of killing the poor little rat...ewww he does look scary though!
inhumane???? I'd rather drown the thing then have to decapitate it. or should we just keep letting them go so they can come back in the house? maybe you could get a big lizard or snake for a pet and then feed the mice to it. I don't know but drowning sounds much more fun then being eaten by another animal. we a haven't caught ours yet. He's too tiny. and the cocoroaches keep eating the bait! Maybe i'll go rent a cat!
Thank you so much Kirsten for sticking up for me!! Killing by drowning is actually a very smart AND humane way of killing rats. I could have poisoned it and had it suffer, I could have bashed it over the head with something and made a mess, I could have let it go and let it run into someone else's house or back into my own, but I didn't. I (or rather Daniel) quickly and painlessly let it slip from this life in a cool and clean "bath".
...I have no regrets!!!
