Wow it's already Halloween! It's crazy how fast time goes. My little guy is already 4 weeks old and I myself have already lost 30 pounds from the 42 I gained over the course of my pregnancy...hurray for breastfeeding!! Only 12 to go to get to my pre-pregnancy weight.
Today should be really fun. My mom bought me a bubble fog machine for my birthday that is seriously cool. We had a lot of fun playing with it when my nephew Tau was here and now again today we get to play with it. We're planning on setting it up on our top balcony so the bubbles of fog can fall down onto the trick-or-treaters when they come. I'm way excited to see if it works. Living here in a student family apartment building we're planning on getting a bunch of trick-or-treaters. This is my very first year I get to stay home and entertain trick-or-treaters all night. I really am looking forward to it.
Daniel's two best friends Ayla and Shawn are coming to visit us later on tonight so we're planning on hanging out with them and eating lots of junk food!!
This is Daniel's mom who came out for a visit. It's funny because she was the first person to hold the baby besides Daniel and I (and the people at the hospital but they don't count!) It was weird for me to give my baby up to someone for the first time. This is Daniel's big brother John. So here we have big John and little John! It's so funny how different John and Daniel to me. I thought this was a cute picture because of how little John is looking at Daniel. That kid sure knows who his daddy is!
Tau was so cute with John the whole time they were here.
At first Tau was super jelous of John and anyone that wanted to hold him. He didn't understand why he wasn't getting the attention so he clung to his mommy and wouldn't let her touch John without him there. Then my mom had a brilliant idea to let Tau hold John and teach him that he was just a little baby. At first he wasn't quite sure what to do... But then John started sucking on his face and Tau thought it was hillarious! After that he did not want to let John go. To him it was his baby and he became super protective of him. Tau became like this if anyone tried to mess with his baby!!So even though Tau tried to force feed John a fig newton when we weren't looking he still protected that kid with his life! They are both so funny and I'm sure later on in life they will find ways to get into trouble together with Logan as well. The three musketeers!
These are just a few pictures of the photo shoot we set up and took while Brittanny and my mom were here. It's so much fun setting up your own "studio" and taking the pictures yourself because then you can do it on your own time. It was nice because every time John got fussy we stopped and took our time getting him calm again before going on. If you were to go anywhere else it would be much harder. All three of us had fun setting these up. I don't know if that's him trying to be Popeye or what!?! I love this picture even though right before we took it he reached up with his giant claws and scratched his face! This is why I still put the little mittins on his hands :) I bought him a Lemar stuffed animal at the zoo because it had a long soft tail. It's his little zaboomafoo! His hair is seriously so much fun to play with. I know it will most likely all fall out but I don't want it too. It's just too cute!
Ok first of all, I had no idea Santa Barbara had a zoo! That's so cool!! We all took a trip to the zoo one day and even though I got tired of it quickly I still had fun. The SB Zoo isn't very big and doesn't have a ton of animals but we still got to see some pretty cool stuff. We got to see Elephants... And penguins... And cheetahs and snow leopards. The cheetah was funny because Tau managed to get up to the glass and look in at it. Had that cheetah noticed him and jumped at the glass Tau probably would have crapped himself! The monkeys were so cool, especially the one's that swung from branch to branch so fast it looked like they were flying... The gorillas were pretty cool too because one of them had a scab on his leg that he kept picking at and eating! It was pretty sick but hillarious to watch!! We found John's real family tree!! hehehe And pretty much the whole time we were there he spent it like this...can you tell how much he loved the zoo!?!
This is a picture of John's very first beach visit! We all went down to the Goleta beach right next to UCSB which just so happens to be only a 5 min drive from my house.
The next day we went to the beach again and this time got more pictures...
It was such a beautiful day and we had a pretty relaxing time. I don't think any one of us loved it as much as my nephew Tau... You name it, he did it! From feeding the birds... ...All the way to running full force into the ocean while Brittanny ran after him. He ended up getting a mouth full of sea water, as well as a mouth full of sand when he landed face down while chasing Brittanny on the beach! Silly kid :~) But he sure loved every minute of it none the less! Tau was so protective of John especially when the birds were around. He would check every few minutes to make sure John was still doing ok. The love of cousins!! I honestly think this is one of my most favorite pictures in the world. They look so perfect like that. So our day at the beach turned out to be pretty fun...except when it was time to go home. I think Tau said it best when we told him it was time to leave!!
My visiting teachers decided to through me a baby shower with the other ladies of our ward. It was such a fun night. I was so happy that my mom and sister were there for it as well. A bunch of ladies showed up and we had a lot of really yummy food...and... ...Even a diaper cake! I've never seen one of these before but I thought it was such a cute idea. Instead of just giving someone a box of diapers why not arrange them into a cute 3 layer "cake"! Ha ha ha...so much fun!! :)
This week we've been having a blast spending time with my mom Lydia, my older sister Brittanny and her little boy Tau. I can't believe we only have a few more days before we say goodbye.
Here are a few pictures!... (more will be coming later)
Even from the first time Grandma held little John he was so comfortable with her.
1. Where did you meet? In Bandung, Indonesia. Daniel was the ‘Assistant to the President’ and came to my area for a training meeting. The first time I saw him he was playing the piano in the BandungChurch house.
2. How long did you date before you got married? We had our first date on June 30. Daniel proposed on July 29, and we were married Sept 29. Hey, when you know it’s right…why wait?!
3. How long have you been married? A little over a year.
4. What does he do that surprises you? He remembers things that I casually mention or don’t think he was paying attention to. Or he’ll do something nice for me and when I ask “How did you know?” he’ll reply “I always pay attention to you even when you think I’m not.”
5. What is your favorite feature of his? Oh wow, where do I begin!! I personally think he’s the most attractive person in the world so I would say everything, but that’s too obvious of an answer so I think my official answer will have to be his smile!
6. What is your favorite quality of his? He knows exactly what to do to calm me down and make me feel like a million bucks!
7. Does he have a nickname for you? His baby!
8. What is his favorite color? Red (which is my favorite color too but he likes more of a lighter brick looking red and I like a darker blood looking red)
9. What is his favorite food? What an easy question!! Pepperoni pizza and Tampiko
10. What is his favorite sport? Um…I actually don’t know this answer. He’s not big into sports but if I had to guess I would say Basketball.
11. When and where was your first kiss?July 13, 2007 (which just so happened to be a Friday!) It was after we went on a date and he was dropping me off at my house. I don’t think I slept very well that night because I was still on cloud 9!
12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Cuddle on the couch and watch movies or TV together.
13. Do you have any children? John (2 weeks old)
14. Does he have a hidden talent? He can sew 10 times better than I can!
15. How old is he? 25 years old
16. Who said "I love you" first? He did, but I think I thought it in my head way before he did. I fell in love with him so fast it was amazing!
17. What is his favorite type of music? Daniel likes all kinds of music, but right now he’s really into “Lieder” which is a German opera-sounding cycle of songs. It’s kind of confusing but he’s getting pretty good at it.
18. What do you admire most about him? His dedication to everything in his life. He always makes time for everything that is important to him which means even though he’s extremely busy with school and work and studying, he’ll always find time to play with the baby and hang out with me. He tries so hard to make life easier for me by cleaning the house when he gets home even if he gets home late, or making me breakfast before rushing off to one of his classes, or even at times he will surprise me with chocolate or a little note of encouragement.
19. Do you think he will read this? Yes, if I tell him I did it!!
20. I tag: Everyone who took the time to read this and wants to brag about their husbands too!
Today is my 24th birthday!! It's been a pretty good day. I spent most of the day playing with my baby and watching lots of my favorite TV shows. I've recently got hooked to a show called "Chuck". I don't know if any of you have ever seen it but I think it's really funny. It's such a good idea for a show too. My husband left this morning at 7:30a.m. and I didn't think I would see him again until 10:00p.m. like I usually do on Tuesdays but he managed to come home after one of his classes at around 4ish and spent a little bit of time with me before going to work at 6. He made me a birthday cake (the rainbow cake with rainbow frosting!) and we watched the newest episode of "Heroes" while eating the cake. It was so much fun to hang out with him today even though it was only for a little while. He's so sweet to take the time he could have been spending catching up on his studies to spend with me making sure I had a good birthday. He's such a wonderful husband and I'm so grateful for him. My mom and oldest sister Brittanny are coming out to visit us this Saturday and they will be here for a week so we're planning on going out to dinner for my birthday sometime next week. Sounds like fun to me!!
Pretty good birthday if you ask me :) Selamat Ulang Tahun kepada saya sendiri!!
So it's been almost 2 weeks since our cute little guy was born. My sister got mad because I haven't posted any recent photos of John so here are a few that I thought were cute... This kid has the chubbiest cheeks! I tried to make his hair look like the devil and I think it came out pretty good!! It looks like he's saying "Yo". He's got the thickest head of hair :)
This is during his first bath we gave him at home...as you can see he didn't like it much!!
We washed his hair and realized before we brushed it that his hair had a curl to it. You can't see it too well right now but it was pretty cute. I found him sleeping like this and totally got the impression of Marty McFly on 'Back to the Future' I'm so mean to take a picture when he's right in the middle of a yawn but I think he looks so cute and funny every time he does it! I love how chubby his cheeks are! His eyes look almond shaped. Daniel's eyes were the exact same way as John's when he was a baby. I can't believe how much he looks like his daddy. I'll definitely have to take some better looking pictures of the two of us together but this is good enough for now.
So there you have it! That's just a quick update of pictures of my funny lookin little guy!! Man I love him so much :) I'll definitely post the story of how everything went during the labor and what not soon but for now I'm hungry so it's off to the kitchen for me to make some lunch!
