I'll post more soon....

I have SSSOOOOOOOOO much to post about, but I've been neglecting doing it because I've been so busy! I promise I'll post all about my awesome Christmas and John's baby blessing soon. (FYI Tomorrow is John's baby blessing so get a hold of me today if you want to come!!!) My husband took our camera with him on his snowboarding trip so I can't get any of the pictures I want until later when he gets back. So just to keep everyone updated...we're doing great, we had a wonderful Christmas, and life is good!

P.S-I had no idea Daniel was going to post that video of me singing. I was embarrassed when I saw it because I was totally nervous and I didn't think I sounded very good. So sorry you all had to suffer listening to it! :)

Women at the Well

Last Thursday was our Christmas Enrichment Party in our ward. It turned out to be a REALLY fun evening. The women from our ward put on a production called "Women at the Well" and invited everyone from the stake to come. We had a fair amount of people show up and the program turned out great. I personally had so much fun doing it. We have A LOT of very talented people in our ward. I was priviledged to be asked to be one of the soloists and I sang the first song which, in fact, was called "Women at the Well". All of the songs were absolutely beautiful and the costumes and set were amazing. One of the ladies in the ward use to live in...I think Afganistan with her husband (military service) and she brought back the most beautiful clothing which she was kind enough to let us borrow for the show. The set was also very beautiful. Another lady in the ward went with her daughter set up the whole thing with a well and plants to make it look very nice. The desert table looked like something from a wedding reception and even the trash cans were decorated! I was so happy to have my neighbor Melissa come to the program. We had fun chatting with everyone afterwards and totally stocked up on Creme Puffs before we went home!!

This is what the set looked like. It was way cooler in person!

It was a great night and I had a blast!!

Such a BIG Boy!!

John had his first shots yesterday!! I think the whole experience was more traumatic for me than for anyone :) He did really well and only cried for a few minutes then feel asleep (I wish I could say the same for me!!! j/k). The rest of the day wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. He was a little fussy but nothing compared to today. I think it finally kicked in. He's had a fever, been really clingy to me, and just starts sobbing out of the blue. It totally breaks my heart, but I know it won't last forever. We've given him Tylenol and tried to keep his little legs moving but I can still tell he's sore.

On a lighter note, at the appointment yesterday our tiny little guy weighed in at....
14 pounds 10 ounces!!!!

I swear this kid is huge! But at the same time so little and cute. I babysit a little boy named Eli and I laid them down next to each other the other day and realized they looked about the same size! This is funny to me because Eli is 5 MONTHS OLD!! John is barely 2 months and he looks the same size as Eli who is 3 months older than he is.

(Just so you know, the pajamas Eli was wearing that day were too big for him and his feet didn't go all the way to the bottom!)

Eli and John...BFF!!

Fancy Fancy!

I am SO happy to report that after 10 years of waiting I've finally been able to use my fancy Christmas dish set!! Yes indeed this is a moment worth blogging! About 10 years ago my grandma gave me this set of Christmas dishes that at the time I thought I would never be able to use (I was a teenager so adulthood seemed a million years away!) I put the box in my closet and left it there for years and years. When I graduated high school my grandma bought me a cedar chest as a graduation presant and I moved the dishes from the closet into the chest. I kept looking at the box year after year wondering if the day would ever come that I could actually open it up and use the dishes....that day finally came. I brought them with me when I moved and was determined to use them this year. Last night we invited some friends over for dinner from our ward and I opened the cupboard to get my normal dishes out and saw the box on the top shelf. I thought to myself 'Why not?!' then I realized how incredibly perfect it would be to use these dishes because... IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME!!!!!

Daniel was working at K-Mart on Saturday night and noticed that they had a 50% off Sale on a bunch of Christmas items and found this beautiful red table cloth for me. It came with 6 napkins with decorative gold ring around them. It made everything look sooooooo fancy-shmansy!

We even had awesome wine glasses that we ended up filling with Sprite!

The design on the plates are poinsettias with a gold trim. It came with 4 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 4 cups plus saucers, and 4 dessert plates.

This is Daniel, Jacquie, and Garret eating a fabulous homecooked meal on our totally awesome table!

BFOM on You Tube!!

As I wrote earlier BFOM (Daniel's all male accappella group) had their first concert a little while ago. While I was there I set up a camera but as you remember didn't get very good footage of it. There was also another girl in the back with me that was filming it also. It turns out that the girl was the host of a Holiday TV program and she spotlighted BFOM on her program. Check it out!...
(They are featured twice once at the beginning then again at the end. Daniel is on the far right side of the screen)

My Garden

I have some good news and bad news about my cute little garden. The bad news...I sectioned off my garden and planted a bunch of flowers (the bulbs) and none of them grew! I guess right now just isn't the right time for flowers in Santa Barbara. The good news...My pepper plant and some weird looking lettuce-ish plant is still growing!! Hurray :)

It makes me happy because I love green peppers so I feel like I can actually use and eat some of the things my garden is producing. The weird looking lettuce-ish thing is just cool to look at and to be able to say that something is growing, but that pretty much is the only reason we've kept it. I'm not gonna eat it, but I will probably cook with the green pepper. When we very first got our garden plot the people before us didn't take very good care of it and the weeds were completely out of control. Daniel and I have worked really hard on it to make it look half way decent. My mom and my sister came out to visit and weeded my garden for me while I first recovering from having my baby. It looked great when they were finished. Lately the rains have started coming more frequent and the weeds are starting to grow really fast. I need to get out there soon and weed the whole thing again or it will turn into a jungle.

It's so fun having my own little garden!

Aunt Debbie's house

The day after Thanksgiving Daniel and I drove to Lancaster to visit his mom and older sister. The driving part wasn't so fun (especially when a little boy doesn't like his car seat all that much!) but the trip itself was. Daniel's mom took us to a Chinese buffet near her house (her favorite restaurant apparently) and one of the workers was Indonesian so we got to speak to him for a while. After we ate we went to visit Daniel's oldest sister Debbie and family. We were only able to stay for a short while because we had to drive 2 hours to get home and it was already getting late but we were able to get pictures of the baby with the gang!
