Europe Trip: Last day in Paris

Before getting to Paris I came up with a list of important things I wanted to do while I was there: 1-Get an Eiffel Tower keychain, 2-listen to Quasimodo ring the bells of Notre Dame, and 3-See if Mona Lisa really does smile. Since this was our last day in Paris and the only one we had done so far was #2 (I vaguely remember hearing bells while I was locked in a bathroom!) so we decided today was the day to hit up the Louvre and Eiffel Tower...again, but for real this time!
We took the Metro down to the bottom entrance of the Louvre. You seriously cannot imagine how big this place is until you have been there and seen it for yourself. It's HUGE! We heard rumor that entering from the gift shop entrance is less crowded and easier to get in so we made our way to the gift shop next to the Inverted Pyramid. The line to get into the entrance was about 200 people (this was just to get into the entrance not the actual museum itself). We were expecting long lines but I didn't realize how long. We cued up at the end of the line and one of the workers spotted us and came over. She asked us how old John was and we said 2 then she said "Come with me" and ushered us to the front of the line and through the security check point no questions asked! It was so great :) Some people thought we were crazy for bringing our kids on this trip with us but they came in very useful at times!

We waited again in a smaller line to get tickets to enter the museum then checked out the map to find the famous points of interest. Since I only really knew about the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo we headed towards that. We did see a lot of cool stuff at the museum but I was not interested in wading through the sea of tourists to try and look at art work I hardly know anything about...especially with a double stroller.
We left to get some lunch and stopped off at to take pictures at the Inverted Pyramid before leaving. We then made our way to the Eiffel Tower and stood in line to go up to the top. There are 3 or 4 elevator entrances to go up to the first level then I think 2 elevators to go up from the 1st stop all the way to the very top. The lines were really long for everything but we decided to wait anyway because how many times in your life can you say you've been to the top of the Eiffel Tower? At least for us not many!
We waited about 45min outside to get on the first Elevator then another 45 min on the 1st level to get to the elevators that take you to the top. It seemed like A LOT longer when we were actually waiting but it did have it's good points. While we were in line Joshua started flirting with a group of girls in front of us and they and a bunch of tourists around us started taking pictures of him. It was so strange but really funny. He was hamming it up and everyone thought he was so cute.

Going up the elevators was really cool but kind of scary. At the top, Joshua only cared about playing with the bolts on a sign and John just wanted to push the buttons on the telescope things. They had signs all around stating how far away you were from different countries and we took a picture next to the Tonga sign. Turns out we were 16,918 km from Tonga.

We went back and started getting all of our stuff packed up so we could leave in the morning. It's much harder to pack than to unpack.
